The Painted Ponies Go Up and Down
(quad light victrola)

steel, wood, paper, paint,
mechanical components,
speaker, motor, electronics
(2011)

The Painted Ponies Go Up and Down (quad light victrola) is part of the ongoing Cross Current Resonance Transducer collaboration with LoVid. Ambient light reflected from four painted wooden records drives a scratchy electronic sound circuit. The paintings on the records are inspired by data from a previous CCRT project, sound spirals.

The creation of The Painted Ponies Go Up and Down (quad light victrola) was supported by Harvestworks. The sculpture was first presented at the 2011 New York Electronic Art Festival Exhibition "Wave(form)s" on Governor's Island in New York City.
