fergie

software
(1999/2010)

fergie was a small software-based synthesizer that ran on the (now defunct) Be Operating System (BeOS). It is now available as a Java/JSyn applet.

I used it primarily for live electronic performances and improvisations. I wrote fergie because I found that squiggy was sometimes awkward to play in group improvisations, since it was difficult to make things change quickly with squiggy. fergie was all about quick change and very responsive control of the sound.

I play fergie live on the Dartmouth College Festival of New Musics recording.
